Mumbai is experiencing sultry weather conditions since last many days. Mumbaikars are eagerly waiting for rains. The cyclonic circulation over the southeast and adjoining west Central Arabian Sea will induce a low-pressure area very soon. This low pressure will gradually intensify into a depression and will move in the northerly direction along the coast towards Gujarat.

Mumbai may get its first pre-monsoon shower on June 1st. Southwesterly winds will become strong along the Maharashtra coast and sea conditions will become rough. Fishermen and public are advised not to go into the sea until June 5th, as a sea waves will be high and wind speed will also be strong.

Rain activities over Mumbai and suburbs will increase between June 2nd and 4th, few intense thundershower activities are possible. But there is no need to panic as this depression is not expected to intensify into a cyclone therefore threat of widespread flooding over Mumbai and suburbs is ruled out.

These Pre-Monsoon rain activities will lead to drop in temperatures and weather will become pleasant. Although the rains will subside after June 4, but patchy rain or thundershowers may continue thereafter also for next few days.

Southwest Monsoon 2020 has already made an onset over Kerala and conditions seems to be good for further advancement of monsoon along the West Coast therefore this year Mumbai may receive monsoon rains on time.
