Multiple weather systems to give unusual rain in Gujarat during next 24 hrs

Just like Rajasthan, the state of Gujarat too has been observing some unseasonal rainfall activities lately. The region of Saurashtra and Kutch, which otherwise remain dry during this period has been recording moderate rain with a few heavy spells for the last two days now.

According to the rainfall data available with Skymet, Bhuj has recorded 25 mm of rain, followed by Kandla 22 mm and Naliya 1.2 mm in a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Thursday.

The reason for these unseasonal activities can be attributed to multiple weather systems lying in the close vicinity. At present, there are 2-3 significant weather systems that are governing the weather right from the hills to the plains of Northwest India, extending their impact even up to Gujarat.

These systems include a Western Disturbance over the northern hills, that has induced a Cyclonic Circulation over Central Pakistan and adjoining Rajasthan. Another Cyclonic Circulation is lying over Southwest Rajasthan and adjoining area. One more Cyclonic Circulation can be spotted over Northeast Arabian Area.

All these weather systems are working in tandem and would bring more unusual showers for Gujarat during the next 24 hours. However, the spread and intensity would comparatively be lesser today.

After the next 24 hours, an Anti-Cyclone would develop over Rajasthan which would slow down the rainfall activities in Gujarat. In fact, the weather would go almost dry and would remain the same for the next 10 days.

Post this rainy episode, cooler easterlies would blow which would make the weather pleasant and comfortable for the residents. The night temperature would settle between 19 and 20 degree Celcius over inland stations while in the coastal stations the minimum will settle somewhere close to 22 degrees Celcius.

After the withdrawal of Southwest Monsoon, the weather in Gujarat becomes almost silent for the entire post-Monsoon period. This trend extends up to the winter months. The ongoing spell, however, has been an exception.
