For the last few days, Madhya Pradesh, parts of Gujarat, and East Rajasthan have been receiving moderate to heavy showers. A well-marked low pressure is over the north-east Madhya Pradesh, a cyclonic circulation is over the southwest Rajasthan and an east-west shear zone is running roughly along 20 degrees north across Centre India.

Due to the combined effect of all these weather parameters, moderate to heavy rains have occurred over east and south Madhya Pradesh as well as parts of Gujarat. Eastern districts of Rajasthan have also been receiving intense weather activities.

The well-marked low-pressure area will move in a westerly direction towards west Madhya Pradesh and will weaken gradually in a low-pressure area. Moderate to heavy rains with one or two very heavy spells are expected to occur over central and western districts of Madhya Pradesh until August 22nd. Districts of Rajasthan and many parts of Gujarat may receive moderate to heavy showers until August 24th.

The rain deficient districts of Rajasthan such as Banswada, Pratapgarh, Chittorgarh, Udaipur Jaipur, Rajsamand, Pali, Jalore, Janu, Sirohi, and Barmer may get heavy downpour during this period.

Northern districts of Gujarat such as Sabarkantha, Palanpur, Banaskantha, Mahesana, Patan, Bhuj, Dahod, Gandhinagar, Kheda, Ahmedabad, and Morbi may receive heavy rains.

Saurashtra and Kutch have already received 81% surplus rain until now. Gujarat region which is deficient by 3% will also cover up its rain deficiency. West Madhya Pradesh is still deficient by 6% and will also cover up its deficiency by the end of this rain episode.
