Spell of unseasonal rain is expected over central parts of the country between 10th and 14th December. Under the influence of multiple weather system acting in tandem, untimely rains are likely over Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra (Konkan). This wet spell will be mostly light and moderate and will be over a few places.

Presently, a low-pressure area is marked over central and adjoining southeast Arabian Sea supported by organized cyclonic circulation over the same area. This weather system is likely to remain nearly stationary for the next 24 hours and become well marked. Subsequently, it may intensify further and drift over the west and central parts of the Arabian Sea away from Indian coastline. Simultaneously there is a western disturbance over Jammu & Kashmir and neighbourhood causing fairly widespread rain and snow across that area. This system is likely to move away but only to be replaced by a fresh and active western disturbance on 11th December. Northern hills and plains will experience wet spell between 11th and 12th December. Also, this western disturbance will induce a cyclonic circulation over West Rajasthan which later will shift to parts of Gujarat and neighbouring Madhya Pradesh. The seasonal anti-cyclone is likely to get displaced far to the east resulting confluence of winds over trijunction of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. The wind pattern will infuse moisture from the Arabian Sea to sustain these changes.

Weather activity is likely over Gujarat (Saurashtra and South Gujarat) between 10th and 14th December, over the west and central Madhya Pradesh from 11th to 14th December and Maharashtra region from 12th to 14th December. Rajkot, Amreli, Veraval, Junagarh, Bhavnagar, Ahmedabad, Baroda, Gandhinagar, Valsad, and Surat are likely to have light rain and showers. Indore, Ujjain, Bhopal, and Jabalpur also will have similar weather activity. Mumbai stands a chance for the cloudy sky with light rain on 11th December and over Pune and Nasik later and extending up to Nagpur subsequently. Cloudy conditions with patchy rains will change the temperature profile reducing the maximum and rising the minimum temperature during this period.
