The Monsoon 2016 has shown a significant performance in the states of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh this season. Both the states have received continuous good Monsoon showers. We have not seen a long period of dry weather conditions.

On Wednesday, fairly widespread light to moderate rains have occurred over Madhya Pradesh, particularly over the eastern parts of the state and Chhattisgarh. As of now, the state of Madhya Pradesh has received excess rainfall whereas its neighbouring state Chhattisgarh has received comparatively less rainfall.

In a span of 24 hours, Ujjain received 62 mm of rainfall, Bhopal 54.3 mm, Guna 28.2 mm, Khandwa 16 mm in Madhya Pradesh. While Ambikapur recorded 71 mm and Bilaspur 15.1 mm of rains in Chhattisgarh.

A north-south trough is expected to extend from East Uttar Pradesh and South Chhattisgarh. Skymet Weather predicts some more rains over Chhattisgarh for next 2 3 days, with 1 or 2 places witnessing heavy rains. The rain intensity is likely to decrease over western parts of Madhya Pradesh, however, scattered light to moderate rains will continue over eastern parts of the state.

At present West Madhya Pradesh is rainfall surplus by 33%, whereas East Madhya Pradesh is rainfall surplus by 30%. But its neighbouring state Chhattisgarh is 6% below the normal mark of Monsoon rains. These rainfall figures are more likely to go up.
