Mount Abu records 190 mm rain; good showers for Jaisalmer, Chittorgarh, Bhilwara

The state of Rajasthan was witnessing light showers in some parts. However, most parts of the state continued to witness dry weather conditions about 48 hours ago.

However, since then, rains have once again revived over the desert state. While good showers were recorded over the southeastern parts of the state a day before, more showers were observed over many areas of the state in the past 24 hours.

In fact, heavy to very heavy rains occurred over many parts of South and West Rajasthan due to the well-marked low which is currently lying over Southwest Madhya Pradesh.

In a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Thursday, Mount Abu recorded a whopping 190 mm of rain, followed by Chittorgarh where 51 mm of rainfall was witnessed. Other areas to have received some rains include Bhilwara at 47 mm, Bundi 32 mm, Phalodi 36 mm, Jaisalmer 26 mm, Barmer 16.2 mm, Kota 9.2 mm, and Jodhpur 6.2 mm.

Now also, we expect moderate to heavy rains to continue over southern districts of Rajasthan for at least next 24 hours. In fact, light to moderate rain with isolated heavy showers and strong gusty winds may occur over  Ajmer, Barmer, Bhilwara, Bundi, Chittaurgarh, Jaipur, Jaisalmer, Jalor, Jhalawar, Jodhpur, Kota,Pali, Pratapgarh, Rajsamand, Sirohi ,Tonk and  Udaipur districts of Rajasthan during next 4 to 6 hours

. However, Jaipur may not receive any rain for at least some time.

By July 16, this system will fade away and rains will commence over central Rajasthan around July 17 and 18 due to the shifting of the trough towards Rajasthan.
