Updated on December 2, 2018 3:30 PM: Mount Abu freezes with sub-zero temperatures, no respite likely

Minimum temperatures have taken steep drop across Northwest India during the last 24 hours. There are many places in the region which have recorded season’s lowest morning temperature on Tuesday.

One such place is Mount Abu that recorded subzero temperature today morning to the tune of 0.4˚C. This was three degrees below the normal average temperature.

The weather conditions have become extremely cold and in fact, we do not expect any respite from these prevailing conditions. Weathermen predict that minimum temperature would continue to hang around subzero temperatures for the next 2-3 days.

According to Skymet Weather, chilly winds are the major contributor in dropping the mercury.

The famous hill station does not see much rains during this season. As per weathermen, the region does not get affected by the passage of Western Disturbance. It may see some weather activity on account of the induced cyclonic circulation over Rajasthan.

However, this season, we have not witnessed many active Western Disturbances as well as induced cyclonic circulation. Weather has remained mainly dry during the last 20 days. In fact, we do not expect much changes in the weather conditions during the next few days as well.

In wake of this, we do not expect any respite from chilly weather conditions during the next few days.

The desert state of Rajasthan is home to just one hill-station and it is Mount Abu. The widely popular tourist destination is located near the Sirohi District at a height of 1,220 meters above sea level. Mount Abu nests in the Aravalli mountain range and continues to be a popular retreat for visitors from around the world. It packs the scenic beauty of a hill station along with the colorfulness and bubbliness of the Rajasthani culture.
