Most parts of the country remain fog free

Most parts of country woke up to a fog free Wednesday morning, barring few places. Fairly good visibility conditions were reported across the places in North and East India.

Delhi reported a visibility of 700 meters at Palam Airport, while other parts including Laxmi Nagar, Dwarka, Model Town, Lajpat Nagar and NCR region remained fog free. Chandigarh witnessed visibility of 1500 meters.

Only Amritsar and Jammu were the two pockets in the region to witness nil visibility. According to Skymet Meteorology Division in India, north-westerly winds with speed of 15 kmph are blowing over North India and are fairly strong. Thus, it does not allow fog to settle in the region.

In East India, only Siliguri reported nil visibility followed by Bhubaneswar at 800 meters, while Allahabad and Patna had visibility of 1000 meters, followed by Gorakhpur and Gaya at 1200 meters.

As per Skymet, the reason behind fog free mornin Iin East India is light rain over Bihar and adjoining parts due to the prevailing cyclonic circulation.

Train and flight delays

As the situation was better on Wednesday morning, only 5 flights were reported to be delayed from Delhi Airport while no flights were cancelled. Apart from this only Amritsar reported major delays.

However, 41 trains were still running behind schedule. Some of the major trains running late are Golden Temple Mail (Amritsar-Mumbai) is late by 23 hours, Weekly Special (Dibrugarh-Chandigarh) by 8 hours, Nauchandi Express (Saharanpur-Allahabad) by 7 hours and Hirakund Express (Amritsar-Visakhapatnam) by 6 hours.
