After registering single digit minimums at its Palam and Safdarjung observatories on Tuesday, the national capital Delhi could now witness a rise in night temperatures in the next two to three days. Palam recorded 8.2°C as the minimum temperature on Tuesday while, Safdarjung settled at 9.5°C.
According to our forecast there will not be any significant changes in the night temperatures in Delhi till Wednesday. However, a gradual rise in the minimums is expected thereafter, providing some comfort from the cold nights and early morning hours.
Day conditions in Delhi will remain pleasant owing to the icy northwesterly winds that are keeping the maximums in check and not allowing them to rise. After registering 19.6°C on Sunday, the maximum temperature recorded in Delhi on Monday was 21.5°C, still three notches below average for the month. Due to continuous northwesterly winds, day temperatures in Delhi will remain below normal for the next 48 hours.
The dry weather in Delhi is expected to change from Thursday evening as a fresh Western Disturbance (WD) is likely to arrive over Jammu & Kashmir. The weather system (WD) will be supported by a cyclonic circulation over Rajasthan. Chances of rain and clouds in Delhi would be high on Friday as both the weather systems will move eastwards and come closer to Delhi and NCR by then.
