Delhi rains made a banging comeback with September beginning on a rainy note as had been forecast by Skymet Weather. Moreover, heavy showers lashed the national capital since morning and water logging has been observed in many parts of the city.
Rains began at around 7:00 am in the morning and in just about an hour and a half or so, Ridge in Delhi was pounded by hefty rainfall of a whopping 61 mm. During the same time, Safdarjung also recorded heavy showers to the tune of 25.5 mm. Other parts of the city have also seen some hefty showers.
In fact, knee deep water has been seen in many parts of the national capital with Delhi Police trying to manage traffic chaos. In some parts, commuters could be seen struggling to travel in at least two feet deep water on the roads.
These rains have been attributed to the oscillation of the axis of the Monsoon trough which is likely to keep Delhi rains going for another two to three days. In fact, Delhi has circulations on both sides, one over South Pakistan towards its western side while on its eastern side, a cyclonic circulation is persisting over East Uttar Pradesh and adjoining areas.
Thus, rainfall activity is expected to continue today as well with showers remaining heavy in a few areas. In fact, rainfall activity may be slightly more intense tomorrow which may cause more water logging and massive traffic chaos in many parts of the national capital.
Delhi rains may reduce slightly thereafter, but rainfall activity is expected to continue on Monday as well. Due to these rains, temperatures have already reduced, and weather may become all the more pleasant as showers continue.
