New Zealand's overnight batsman skipper Brendon McCullum and all rounder Corey Anderson would be eager to start afresh tomorrow and go for a kill by posting a big total in the first two sessions and put India to bat in the third session to strengthen their grip in the match. But they may not find it easy as these sessions could be marred by rain and strong winds.
According to our forecast, the low pressure area northeast off Auckland has taken shape and would gain in latitudes in the coming hours. It is expected to bring rain in Auckland from early morning till noon due to which the first two sessions could face delayed start or interruptions, even a washout. Rain has already been forecast on Friday, Saturday and Sunday in Auckland under the influence of the weather system.
After piling up 329 at the loss of four wickets, New Zealand must be aiming for a mammoth first innings total on the second day of the 1st Test match between India and New Zealand at the Eden Park in Auckland. McCullum, who had not liked the idea of batting first on the strip was not out on 143 while Anderson was playing on 42.
On the other hand, if rain allows play, Indian bowlers would look for a much improved show under cloudy sky to restrict New Zealand to a reasonable total and make their way back into the match.
