Post Cyclone Vayu, the state of Gujarat has been receiving intermittent rain and thundershowers. Now, Gujarat is rain deficit by 9% whereas Saurashtra and Kutch are rain deficit by 35%. The southern districts of Gujarat like Valsad, Surat, Navsari, and Bharuch have been witnessing heavy to very heavy rains. On June 30, Surat recorded 28 mm of rains while on July 1 a big jump was seen, and Surat recorded a whooping of 192 mm of rains.

Currently, a Cyclonic Circulation is still persisting and is over South Gujarat. Also, a Well-Marked Low-Pressure Area is travelling from Chhattisgarh towards the west. The experts anticipate that the intensity of rains would now increase in Gujarat and many eastern parts of the Gujarat region would get to see heavy to very heavy rains.

Places like Valsad, Navsari, Surat, Dang, Tapi, Narmada, Bharuch and Chhota Udepur will get to see hefty rains while Ahmedabad might see scattered rains till July 4. Thereafter, the intensity is likely to drop, and rains will be then light over rest Gujarat.

While the southern districts might continue with moderate spells and these intermittent isolated heavy rain and thundershowers would continue for the next three to four days. Kutch will be able to see some isolated showers only.

These rains might trigger localised flood like conditions which will then disrupt day to day life.
