Madhya Pradesh has been witnessing good rainfall from last few days. During last 24 hours as well, the state has received heavy showers.

Few of the cities have also recorded three digit rainfall. During last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Thursday, Rewa recorded a whopping 144 mm of heavy showers followed by Khajuraho that received 140 mm of rainfall.

The reason for these heavy showers can be attributed to a deep depression persisting over northeast Madhya Pradesh, north Chhattisgarh including adjoining areas of southeast Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand.

In last 24 hours, from 08:30 am on Thursday, moderate to heavy rainfall over most of the districts of the state was observed which is displayed in the table below:

At present, East Madhya Pradesh is enjoying a 30 percent rain surplus. While rain surplus for West Madhya Pradesh stands at 35 percent.

As per the weathermen, the weather system is expected to shift in a westward direction. This shift is likely to cause more rain over West Madhya Pradesh. Possibility of a few heavy to extremely heavy showers are also predicted.

However, East Madhya Pradesh will witness a gradual decrease of rain intensity. But another weather system is likely to develop over North Bay of Bengal. This weather system is likely to move in a westward direction affecting the weather of East Madhya Pradesh from August 22 and August 23.

Hence, it can be concluded that both East and West Madhya Pradesh are likely to witness more torrential rains throughout next week.
