Rains begin to lash Bangalore, mercury drops to 27 degrees
As predicted by Skymet Weather, rain and thundershowers have already started lashing Bangalore city. At present, several parts of the city are reporting weather activity of varying intensity.
These thundershowers are also accompanied with moderate winds gusting from 15 kmph to 25 kmph.
However, cloud configuration is indicating that the rainy spell will not last for very long. However, these thundershowers have pulled down the temperatures and at present, the mercury is hovering around 27°C. This has led to extremely pleasant weather conditions over the city.
After remaining dry for the first week of March, on and off rains have been drenching Bangalore. In fact, on March 8, the garden city recorded heavy showers to the tune of 37 mm.
Now also, weather conditions remain conducive for these pre-Monsoon activities to continue to lash the state capital. All thanks to the trough that continues to extend from Vidarbha region of Maharashtra up to Tamil Nadu across Rayalaseema and South Interior Karnataka.
At present, several neighbouring areas of the city are already recording rain and thundershowers. In fact, intense clouding can be seen over the city, which can be followed by rain soon.
According to Skymet Weather, we can expect some short and sharp spell of rains during the late evening hours. However, weather activity will be mostly confined to the northern parts of the city only.
Moreover, we can expect these showers to continue for another 24 to 48 hours.
The city has already recorded 48 mm of rains in first half of the month, surpassing its monthly average rainfall of 18.7 mm.
In fact, it is also the second highest rainfall recorded in entire month during the last 10 years. Prior to this, March 2008 had recorded 59.8 mm of rain.
There are still many days to go and hopes are high that March 2017 could surpass this figure as well.
