Rains have remained far and few over the southern state of Andhra Pradesh. While the coastal stations of the state have been witnessing some on and off rains, the interior regions had by far remained dry for almost a month.

In the last 24 hours also, some light rains occurred in parts of Coastal Andhra Pradesh. However, these pre-Monsoon spells were mainly confined to the northern portion of the coastal belt, meanwhile the southern half of the coastline of Andhra Pradesh failed to record any rains. Moreover, Rayalaseema has remained dry and hot.

Within the span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Monday, Kalingapatnam recorded 2.4 mm of rains, meanwhile, Kakinada, Tuni, and Vishakhapatnam witnessed some traces of rains.

As per Skymet Weather, a trough is expected to extend from Sub-Himalayan West Bengal to Tamil Nadu across Odisha and coastal Andhra Pradesh. In the wake of this, we expect scattered rain and thundershowers to continue over the coastal areas of the state for the next 48 hours. Isolated parts of Rayalaseema may also record some rain and thunderstorm or thundershowers.

Thus, the cities like Kalingapatnam, Tuni, Vishakhapatnam, and Kakinada would continue to receive light rain and thundershowers.

However, despite these rains, the temperatures are not expected to subside much and only would be able to offer some minor relief.

In general, also, during the pre-Monsoon season, the state of Andhra Pradesh does not receive much rains and now also, we do not expect any heavy spell in the coming days.
