East India has been receiving good rains for quite some time now. So much so that many parts have recorded a few heavy rainy spells as well. The last 24 hours have been no different and good showers continued to lash the region.

During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday, Digha received 26 mm of rainfall, Sambalpur 4 mm, Kolkata 1 mm, Keonjhargarh 2 mm, and Diamond Harbour 2 mm.

At present, a cyclonic circulation is persisting over North Bay of Bengal. Also, a trough is extending from this system up to North Bihar across West Bengal. Therefore, moderate rains are likely over many places in the eastern parts of the country with few heavy spells.

Sub Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Odisha, Bihar, and Jharkhand are expected to receive good rains for another 24 hours. Thereafter, intensity will reduce significantly over many parts.

During that period, only eastern parts of Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim will continue with good rain activities. Scattered light rains may continue over rest of East India.

After 48 hours, rain intensity will increase over northeastern parts and reduce over East India. Only isolated areas will receive some rains during that period.
