Pune continues to witness rain and thundershowers on Sunday morning as well. Rain bearing clouds were hovering over the city since early morning hours. This was followed by rains very soon and at present, weather has gone extremely pleasant over Pune now.
Pune has been recording pre-Monsoon activities in terms of thundershowers, thunderstorm and rain since late Friday evening. In span of last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday, the city has recorded 4.6 mm of rain.
According to Skymet Weather, weather conditions will remain favourable for isolated pre-Monsoon rains and activities to continue on Sunday. A feeble trough continues to extend across North Maharashtra, which has been increased moisture over the city.
Now, as the day maximums will peak around afternoon, this may lead to formation of convective clouds over Pune. During that time, we can expect thundershowers, thunderstorm or rain over the city.
However, weather is likely to get clear after the next 24 hours but one or two isolated spell of rain or thundershower cannot be ruled out. True to their characteristics, these pre-Monsoon spells will be of short duration and intense in nature. Moreover, these showers will occur during late afternoon or early morning hours.
These fresh rain and thundershowers have pulled the day maximums, which have been settling well above normal for the last few days. On Saturday, Pune recorded a gradual drop in maximum temperature that settled at 39.6°C. This was till two degrees above normal. Now, with more weather activity likely, mercury may drop by further and settle around normal.
