Southwest Monsoon has been bringing fairly widespread moderate to heavy rains over Gujarat during the last few days. Monsoon seems to be active over Saurashtra & Kutch regions. On the other hand, moderate rains are being witnessed over the subdivision of Gujarat region.
This spell of rainfall could be attributed to the cyclonic circulation which was prevailing over Gujarat, but later shifted to South Pakistan. As for now, this weather system has become insignificant, due to which rains are likely to reduce over Saurashtra & Kutch regions. However, a low pressure area which was persisting over West Rajasthan and adjoining Madhya Pradesh is expected to give few good spells of rain over Gujarat region.
Here's a look at the rainfall figures in Gujarat during last 24 hours:
Owing to good rains in the month of August, the rain deficiency has reduced to a great extent which is apparent with the fact that June ended at 76% rain deficiency for Gujarat region, and at 65% for Saurashtra & Kutch regions. At present Gujarat is rain deficient to the tune of 25% and Saurashtra & Kutch regions at 12%.
More rains are likely at many places including Palanpur, Mahesana, Patan, Banaskantha, and Sabarkantha during next 24 hours. Thereafter, rains will reduce in these areas also.
