More rains in offing for hills of North India

rain in shimlaThe hilly states of North India including Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh have received light to moderate rains during last 24 hours. This spell of rainfall could be attributed to the Western Disturbance lying over North Pakistan and adjoining areas.

In Uttarakhand, Dehradun received 30.2 mm of rainfall. Joshimath received 3 mm, Pithoragarh 8.4 mm, Nainital 2.5 mm and Uttarkashi 2 mm of rainfall.

Himachal Pradesh received very light but widespread rains. Bilaspur recorded 6 mm of rainfall, Sundernagar 8.3 mm, Nahan 2.4 and Shimla 2.3 mm.

Also higher up in Jammu and Kashmir, rains have been light and widespread. Katra received 8.6 mm of rainfall during last 24 hours. Pahalgam also received 7.4 mm, Jammu 3.6 mm, Kokernag 2.4 mm, Gulmarg 1.2 mm, Batote 2.2 mm and Bhaderwah 1 mm of rainfall.

Skymet Weather predicts that scattered light to moderate rains will continue over all the three hilly states of North India for another 24 hours.

As the prevailing Western Disturbance is likely to move in a northwest direction, the effects of the weather system will be felt only for another 24 hours. Thereafter, weather will go dry once again after about a day or so.
