Rains continue to lash most parts of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. On the last day as well, widespread rains occurred over both the states. However, the intensity of rains remained more over parts of East Madhya Pradesh and adjoining parts of Chhattisgarh. On the other hand, Monsoon rains remained subdued over West Madhya Pradesh.
In the last 24 hours, from 08:30 am on Friday, Nowgong recorded 38 mm of rains, Sidhi 29 mm, Mana 28 mm, Umaria 21 mm, Ambikapur 17 mm, Guna 12 mm, Damoh 10 mm, Gwalior 7 mm, Sagar 6 mm, Jabalpur 3 mm, Khajuraho 3 mm, Raisen 2 mm and Tikamgarh 2 mm, Hoshangabad 1 mm, Dhar 0.6 mm, and Ujjain witnessed some traces of rains.
As per Skymet Weather, the axis of Monsoon trough has moved further north. In addition to this, a cyclonic circulation now lies over Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal and Odisha coast. The upper air trough is also tilting southwestward with height.
Thus, we can expect a short break over the southern and western parts of Madhya Pradesh. However, over the remaining parts of the state, rains are expected to continue with moderate to heavy intensity in some parts.
Moreover, moderate to heavy rains are also expected in some parts of northeast Madhya Pradesh and North Chhattisgarh. Extreme South Chhattisgarh may also experience moderate to heavy rains during the next 24 hours.
