The states of Jharkhand as well as Odisha have seen good rainfall activity for quite some time now. Moreover, the state of Odisha at present is normal at 11 percent while Jharkhand is still battling a deficiency of -25 percent.
The last 24 hours saw some good rains over these states. In the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Wednesday, Daltonganj 8.5 mm, Jamshedpur 9.6 mm, Ranchi 1 mm, Bhawanipatna 9 mm, Cuttack 1.2 mm, Dhenkanal 1 mm, Jharsuguda 2.9 mm, Gopalpur 2.7 mm.
A low-pressure area is expected to develop over North Bay of Bengal during the next 48 hours. The system will move in a west-northwest direction. Therefore, parts of Odisha may receive moderate to heavy showers. The state of Jharkhand will also get good rains.
However, rainfall activity over Odisha will be short lived and may decrease gradually. Jharkhand may continue to get light to moderate rains with one or two heavy spells for the next four to five days. The axis of Monsoon trough is also passing across the state of Jharkhand which will result in good rains over the state.
Thereafter, a cyclonic circulation is expected to form around Bihar and adjoining Jharkhand around September. Therefore, rains will continue over many districts of Jharkhand until September 5 and 6.
