More rains in Jaipur, Ajmer, Bikaner, Jaisalmer

After remaining dry for the initial days of July, Monsoon rains finally showed upon the state of Rajasthan. The second half of the month, proved to be beneficial for the state and brought some good rains for Rajasthan.

All thanks to these rains that despite being the last state to welcome Southwest Monsoon, the state is rain surplus. As on July 15, West Rajasthan is rain surplus by 8% and East Rajasthan has received 16% excess rains.

This clearly shows that these rains remained mainly confined to parts of East Rajasthan. Meanwhile, parts of West Rajasthan managed to get some occasional showers.

On the last day as well, light to moderate Monsoon showers though did occur over parts of the state, they remained limited to East Rajasthan with only some isolated moderate showers over the western part of the state.

As per Skymet Weather, the well-marked low-pressure area is persisting in the Bay of Bengal. This system is likely to move inland towards west via Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha and Madhya Pradesh towards East Rajasthan.

In the wake of this, we expect moderate to heavy rains to continue over many parts of East Rajasthan for the next three to four days. Thus, places like Sawai Madhopur, Jaipur, Ajmer, Chittorgarh, Udaipur, Bundi, Bhilwara, and Kota may witness moderate to isolated heavy spells.

On the other hand, scattered light rains may also occur in parts of West Rajasthan over places like Bikaner, Jodhpur, Barmer, and Jaisalmer.

These rains would in turn help in pushing the rain surplus further up. In addition, these rains would be fruitful for the farmers and also for restoring soil moisture.
