The remnants of Western Disturbance which gave good rain and snow over the Western Himalayas are now affecting the northeastern parts of the country. As anticipated by Skymet Weather, scattered rains have occurred over Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, and Sub Himalayan West Bengal. In fact, many stations of Arunachal Pradesh have been painted white with the snowfall.

In the last 24 hours from 8.30 am on Wednesday, Dibrugarh recorded rains to the tune of 12 mm, Pasighat 7 mm, Golaghat 3 mm, Jorhat 2.2 mm, Itanagar 1 mm and Gangtok 0.6 mm rain.
Now, it is expected that rains would stop over Sub Himalayan West Bengal and adjoining western parts of Assam. However, rain is likely to continue over parts of East Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.

In fact, isolated rain may also occur over Nagaland. Meanwhile, after 24 hours, weather of Nagaland and Assam would become dry. However, Arunachal Pradesh would continue with light rain and snow until January 27. The remaining states of Northeast India like Meghalaya, Mizoram, Manipur, and Tripura will remain dry.
Shallow to moderate fog is expected to persist for another 24 to 48 hours over Northeast India. Therefore, dense fog will not make an appearance. However, the visibility will be on the lower side during the early morning hours.
Regarding temperatures, Arunachal Pradesh will witness cool weather during the day and chilly nights. Meanwhile, weather of Assam and remaining Northeast India will be comfortable.
