As per Skymet Weather, a trough was seen extending from Rajasthan to Bihar across Uttar Pradesh. In addition to this, thunderclouds during the late evening hours also developed over Haryana and North Rajasthan and traveled eastwards.

In the wake of this, many parts of Uttar Pradesh received light to moderate rain and thundershower activities.

Rain and thundershowers with dust storm commenced over the western parts of Uttar Pradesh last afternoon and gradually most parts of the state also started receiving thundershowers. These pre-Monsoon activities continued until late night hours.

In the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Sunday, Agra received 6.4 mm of rain, Aligarh 3.4 mm, Bahraich 1.8 mm, Gorakhpur 20 mm, Hardoi 6 mm, Lucknow 1.6 mm, Shahjahanpur 2 mm, and Sultanpur recorded 5.8 mm of light spells.

However, now the trough has shifted slightly southwards therefore, we expect scattered light rain with one or two moderate spells to over central and eastern parts of the states during next 24-48 hours.

Till then, most parts of West Uttar Pradesh are expected to remain almost dry. Even though thundery activities cannot be ruled out.

Around May 3, another Western Disturbance is expected to approach around the night of May 2 and this would induce a cyclonic circulation over Haryana and adjoining areas. During that time, few spells of dust storm and thundershowers may occur one again over West Uttar Pradesh and the central districts of the state.
