More Rains For Delhi, Mercury Drop To Single Digit Again

Delhi/NCR region received intermittent rain last evening and night. Mostly, it was light rainfall measuring 3-5mm spread equally across the region. This wet spell finally broke the jinx of dry weather for the last 3 weeks. It is not yet over and done and more rainfall is expected in the late hours today and tomorrow.

Western disturbance is marked over parts of Afghanistan and North Pakistan. Induced cyclonic circulation is placed over southwest Rajasthan and adjoining area.  Both the weather systems will move eastward resulting snowfall across western Himalayas and rain/ thundershower in the plains. Some parts of south Rajasthan, West and North Madhya Pradesh and few pockets of Kutch are expected to receive rainfall today.

Delhi falls on the outskirts of this system, but still stands a chance to receive stray showers, more probably tomorrow. Sunny weather is likely to turn partly cloudy by late evening and persisting till tomorrow. As the system shifts eastward, the rainfall belt will be dragged along parts of  East Rajasthan, North and West Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh tomorrow.  Some hit and miss showers are expected over Delhi/ NCR region tomorrow late evening and night.

Temperature has risen to double digit with Safdarjung recoding 10.4°C today.  Mercury levels will hover between 9-10°C for next 24hr and gradual drop expected thereafter. Weather conditions are expected to clear from 29thDecember but fog is likely to occur on the subsequent 2 days. Accordingly, gradual slipping of temperature to single digit below normal and foggy conditions in the morning can be expected till new year eve.
