The southern parts of Chhattisgarh have been receiving good rain and thundershower activities since the last one week. Particularly, places such as Jagdalpur and adjoining areas have been observing moderate to heavy showers, while scattered rains have been going on over the northern and central parts such as Durg, Mana and Pendra Road. The increased rainfall activities would soon mark the onset of Monsoon over the southern parts of Chhattisgarh.

In the last 24 hours, from 8:30 am on Thursday, Jagdalpur has recorded 55.3 mm of rainfall, followed by Bilaspur 31.9 mm, Durg 55.8 mm and Pendra Road 5.4 mm of rainfall.

According to Skymet Weather, a Low Pressure Area has formed over the northwest Bay of Bengal. This system would gradually move inland, in southwest direction towards Odisha and Chhattisgarh. Thus, rains will increase and many parts of Chhattisgarh will observe moderate rains with one or two heavy spells for atleast next 24 to 48 hours. Thereafter, rains will taper over the region.

Places like Jagdalpur, Durg, Mana, Pendra road, Bilaspur and Raipur would see rains for the next two to three days.

Usually by June 10, Southwest Monsoon covers the southern parts of Chhattisgarh. However, this time, Monsoon has already gotten delayed by 13 to 14 days, but now, with rains picking up good pace, we expect, Monsoon to soon hit the state of Chhattisgarh.
