The first half of the month of April was a dry period for the state of Maharashtra. However, the second half of the month brought a few rainy sessions for the state. In the last 24 hours also, light with isolated moderate rains occurred over a few parts of the state. However, these rains remained confined to the southern parts of the state while the coastal stations mainly remained dry.

Within the span of 24 hours, from 08:30 am on Sunday, Hassan recorded moderate pre-Monsoon rains to the tune of 43.2 mm, Chitradurga recorded 10.2 mm of rains, followed by Mysuru with 10.2 mm, and Madikeri 2.6 mm of light spells. The capital city, Bengaluru also recorded 4.7 mm of light rains.

As per Skymet Weather, a trough is extending from Karnataka to Interior Tamil Nadu. Along with this, the anti-cyclone over Central Bay of Bengal has also been feeding moisture over the region. These weather systems were responsible for giving rains over parts of Karnataka.

Moreover, these systems are expected to continue giving rains over the southern parts of Karnataka for another 24-48 hours. On the contrary, the northern parts of the state would have to miss these showers. However, the intensity of these rains would not be high and would vary from light to isolated moderate spells.

The temperatures across the state would also not get much affected due to these rains as these pre-Monsoon rains would occur during the late afternoon hours and by that time, the temperatures are already recorded.
