South India continues to witness widespread moderate to heavy rain for the third consecutive day. The rainfall activity is expected to carry on for another 48 hours.
According to Skymet Meteorology Division in India, an induced cyclonic circulation is still prevailing over east Madhya Pradesh and a trough from this is extending up to south Tamil Nadu, across Madhya Maharashtra, interior parts of Karnataka and Kerala, which is causing rain over the region.
Let us have a look at the rainfall figures in a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday.
As per the latest forecast by Skymet, the system will continue to give fairly widespread rain with varied intensity for next 48 hours over parts of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Madhya Maharashtra, interior parts of Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
By April 15, the system is expected to become less marked leading to significant decrease in rainfall over Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Madhya Maharashtra. However, rainy spells over Tamil Nadu, Kerala and southern parts of Karnataka will continue on account of an anti-cyclonic circulation over Bay of Bengal.
