Light to moderate rain and thundershowers have been recorded in many parts of Northeast India during the last 24 hours. Shallow to moderate fog was also seen in one or two pockets during early morning hours. These weather conditions were accompanied by cloudy to overcast skies.
The Cyclonic Circulation over the northern parts of Bangladesh and adjoining Assam has been responsible for these weather activities. In addition to this system, a Western Disturbance has been moving across higher latitudes.
Both systems have been moving in the east/northeast direction. Hence, upper Assam, some parts of Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura may experience light to moderate rain and thundershowers during the next 24 to 36 hours. Thereafter, the intensity of rain will decrease in most parts but Arunachal Pradesh may continue to get good showers.
After some time, West Assam may get to see light rain and thundershowers. One or two pockets of upper Assam, Nagaland, Manipur, and Mizoram may even get hailstorm activities during the next 24 hours.
Places like Guwahati, Shillong, West Jayanti hills, Dibrugarh, Jorhat, Kohima, Peren, Pasighat, Agartala and Imphal will experience these rainfall activities.
Due to the presence of high moisture in the atmosphere, foggy conditions are likely in some parts during early morning hours.
