Tami Nadu has observed rainfall of varying intensity in the last 24 hours. Heavy rain has been recorded at a few places, while many places in the region have received moderate rainfall. Light rain has also been observed in some parts of the state.

In the last 24 hours, from 8.30 am IST on Sunday, Thoothukudi received 64.1 mm, Palayamkottai 20 mm, Parangipettai 17 mm, Nagapattinam 13 mm, Madurai 16 mm, Karaikal 20 mm, Kanyakumari 13 mm, Chennai (Airport) 3 mm, and Chennai (City) also recorded traces of rain.

Some places in Kerala also received light rain in the last 24 hours. Alappuzah recorded 3 mm, Kochi 0.8 mm, Kottayam 2 mm, Punalur 4 mm, and Thiruvananthapuram observed 3 mm of rain.

Normally, partly cloudy sky conditions prevail in the region and high humidity levels lead to discomfort. Currently, maximums in most places over Tamil Nadu are settling close to normal, and minimums are recording above normal. While coastal Kerala will observe slightly better conditions, remaining parts of Kerala are likely to reel under humid conditions.

A low level circulation is seen over Comorin and adjoining South Tamil Nadu region. The circulation over Southwest Bay of Bengal and bordering southeast region persists, extending up to about 3.1 km.

The system will continue to give rains over South Tamil Nadu and some parts of North Tamil Nadu. The system will also provide fairly widespread rains over Kerala during the next 24 hours.

Isolated rainfall will also be observed over South Karnataka, adjoining coastal Karnataka, and a few pockets in coastal Andhra Pradesh. Interior Andhra Pradesh is likely to remain hot and dry.
