Rain in Lucknow

April began on a dry note for Uttar Pradesh and so was the conclusion of the month of March. This was the reason that the temperatures across most pockets of the state rose and settled near or above the 40-degree mark.

However, the second week of April brought a ray of hopes with some rains making their appearance over a few locations. However, these rains were mainly confined to parts of West Uttar Pradesh.

In the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Sunday, Bareilly recorded 24 mm of rains meanwhile, Meerut also witnessed 4 mm of light showers.

These rains as per Skymet Weather can be associated with the Western Disturbance which is prevailing over South Jammu & Kashmir. Moreover, a trough is also seen running in the lower levels from West Rajasthan to West Assam across South Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and West Bengal.

As the system persist, therefore, we expect scattered rains to continue over many parts of Uttar Pradesh for at least another two to three days. Though this time, the rains would be widespread, it would remain confined mostly over the central and northern parts of the state.

Thus, places like Agra, Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Bareilly, Shahjahanpur, Lakhimpur Kheri, Sitapur, Bahraich, Faizabad, Azamgarh, Mathura, Hathras, Lucknow, Rai Bareilly and Sultanpur may receive short spells of rain and thundershowers.

Skymet Weather also states that during the pre-Monsoon season, chances of strong gusty winds are also high. Therefore, we expect dust storm activities also at isolated parts of the state prior to these rains.
