Maharashtra is divided into four zones and each zone experiences varied weather conditions. While the Konkan division is witnessing dry spell for more than a month now, the other three divisions of the state namely Vidarbha, Marathwada, and Madhya Maharashtra have been recording on and off light rain activities.
The last 24 hours were also of no difference wherein parts of Vidarbha and Marathwada along with isolated parts of Madhya Maharashtra have registered light spells, while the Konkan region remained dry.
Within the span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Sunday, Wardha recorded 11 mm of rains, Yeotmal 4 mm, Brahmapuri 3 mm, Satara 0.3 mm meanwhile Gondia and Nagpur recorded some traces of rains.

The reason for these rains can be attributed to the trough which was extending from the eastern parts of Uttar Pradesh up to interior Karnataka across East Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha.
As per Skymet Weather, now a trough is seen running form North Rajasthan to coastal Karnataka across Madhya Maharashtra.
In the wake of this, we expect the intensity of rains to now reduce in the next 24 hours over Vidarbha. However, isolated rain activities may continue over parts of Madhya Maharashtra and some parts of Marathwada.
But the weather of Konkan would continue to remain dry. The temperatures that had dropped to some extent over Vidarbha may rise again.
Hence, cities like Jeur, Kolhapur, Osmanabad, Parbhani, Sangli, Satara, and Solapur would receive rains. On the other hand, Mumbai, Nashik, Pune, and Nagpur would remain dry and hot.
At this stage, let us see the impact of this weather on the agriculture belt of Maharashtra:
As the dry weather is likely to prevail in parts of Vidarbha, farmers are advised to irrigate summer crops, vegetables and fruit crops as per the requirement. Considering high temperature, farmers should apply mulch in sugarcane with trash/straw if there is water stress.
The weather of Konkan would continue to remain dry, farmers are advised to harvest matured mango and other fruits early in morning or late in evening hours. Farmers should also store it in a safe place to avoid the negative impact of high temperatures. Due to temperature variation, there are possibilities of premature fruit drop in oranges hence proper spraying and care should be taken.
