According to Skymet Weather, these rains are occurring due to the remnants of the back to back Western Disturbances which are passing along the foothills of the Himalayas towards these states.

During the past 24 hours from 8.30 am on Tuesday, Pasighat recorded heavy rain to the tune of 70 mm. In the same time frame, Kohima managed to record 11 mm, North Lakhimpur 5 mm, Dibrugarh 2 mm and Tezpur 2 mm. Meanwhile, Shillong and Gangtok also witnessed traces of rain.

As per weathermen at Skymet Weather, it is anticipated that the rain intensity will reduce significantly over all these areas now. However, parts of East Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, and Nagaland may see some isolated showers today. Thereafter, the weather is likely to become absolutely dry over entire Northeast India.

According to weathermen, the weather during the night will continue to remain cool and comfortable in most of the places but the weather during the day will be warm.

Another rainy spell is likely over Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, and Nagaland by March 10. In fact, rain activities will also cover Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura by March 12.
