Rains have once again commenced over most parts of Northwest India. Since the last two days northern parts of Punjab and Haryana are receiving scattered rain and thundershower activities.
In the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Wednesday, Chandigarh recorded 0.2 mm of rain. Places like Ambala and Ludhiana also observed traces of rain.
These rains can be attributed to the fresh Western Disturbance over Jammu and Kashmir, which has induced a cyclonic circulation over Rajasthan and adjoining areas of Punjab and Haryana.
According to weathermen, we expect rain and thundershowers to continue over Punjab and Haryana until tonight. By tomorrow i.e. March 15, intensity of these weather activities will start reducing and the weather will gradually clear up. Hailstorm activity with high velocity winds of 30 to 40 kmph may also occur in parts of these states.
The minimum temperatures which have registered an increase of 2˚C to 3˚C, will fall due to the commencement of cold winds from north/northwest direction.
Another spell of rain is expected to occur over Punjab and parts of Haryana on March 19. During that period, on and off rains will continue over the region till March 21. Thus, the festival of Holi is going to observe some rain.
