According to the latest weather update by Skymet Meteorology Division in India, moist winds from either side of the Indian Peninsula are reaching up to Central India and adjoining parts of northwest and Indo-Gangetic plains.
Some of the places in the region are witnessing confluence of cold northerly and moist southerly winds. When warm air collide with cold air in the places witnessing high temperatures, chances of rain with hail increases. Similar conditions led to hail in several parts of Rajasthan last night.
According to the Latest weather update by Skymet Meteorology Division in India, south Punjab, Haryana, west Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand will witness rain with chances of hail during the next 24 to 48 hours. Higher reaches in the hills could also witness snowfall. An eastward moving Western Disturbance, working in tandem with a cyclonic circulation in the northwest plains would affect these areas.
Dehradun, Haridwar, Pauri Garhwal and Tehri Garhwal districts of Uttarakhand will witness light to moderate rain and thundershowers at some places during this period.
Due to the main cyclonic circulation that brought good amounts of rain in the last 24 hours over Central and adjoining parts of northwest and Indo-Gangetic plains will continue to bring rain with chances of hail in the next two days while, travelling eastward.
In Uttar Pradesh, Allahabad, Ambedkar Nagar, Azamgarh, Chandauli, Chitrakoot, Jaunpur, Kaushambi, Mirzapur, Pratapgarh, Sant Ravidas Nagar, Sonbhadra, Sultanpur and Varanasi districts will observe rain with chances of hail.
Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Sikkim will also witness rain as the cyclonic circulation in Madhya Pradesh will move eastward. Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and parts of Odisha will also continue to receive rain during this period. Due to rain and clouds, day temperatures are below normal by 2 to 8°C in these region.
There is also possibility that the weather system may move to the northeast region and bring rain in Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh from Saturday onwards.
Due to mixing of winds, peninsular India .i.e. interior Maharashtra, Telangana, interior and coastal Karnataka and Kerala will continue to witness rain during the next two days. And northeasterly winds from the Bay of Bengal will continue to give rain in coastal Tamil Nadu during this period.
