April has remained dry for Hyderabad. The capital city of Telangana witnessed hot days throughout the month. So much so that the maximums soared to 43 degrees Celsius, which is the highest in four long decades.

However, after a dry April, May has turned out be rainy. Right from the first day of the month, Hyderabad has received rain almost every day. In fact, on May 5, the city recorded 75 mm of rainfall, which is the highest rain in 24 hours in a decade.

The city also recorded light rainfall of 3 mm during the late night hours. These rains can be attributed to the wind discontinuity which is running right across Telangana. For the past few days, weather conditions have improved in Hyderabad.

Presently, the city has been witnessing its maximums in the mid-30s, while it settled close to 40 degrees throughout April. Minimums have also seen a drop and are settling in the low 20s resulting in comfortable nights.

Usually, hot weather conditions prevail in the city during this time of the year. These rains will continue over the city for the next couple of days. More Pre-Monsoon showers will be observed in the city during the second half of May keeping the temperatures under check.
