In a span of 24 hours from 8.30 am on Thursday, Alipore Observatory recorded a good of 19 mm rainfall, while Dum Dum Airport saw very light rain of 1 mm.

According to Skymet Weather, these weather conditions can be accredited to a cyclonic circulation that has developed over Northwest Bay of Bengal off the West Bengal Coast.

Further, we anticipate scattered light to moderate rain and thundershowers to continue over the city for the next few days. In fact, there may be one or two light spells over the city today as well and the intensity of rain is likely to increase gradually.

The monthly average rainfall for the month of June stands at 300.6 mm, while till date it has only received around 193.1 mm of rain. So, it is apparent that the city was not able to exceed its monthly mean.

With on and off rains over the city, the temperature is likely to subside, paving way for pleasant weather conditions.
