More Monsoon rains to lash Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh

Monsoon rains of varying intensity have been already lashing parts of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh during the last couple of days. Further, these rains are here to stay for some more days.

All thanks to the prevailing weather system as well as the development of fresh system around the region.

In span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Monday, Cuddalore recorded 73 mm of rain, followed by Ongole 64 mm, Nagapattinam 40 mm, Kurnool 27 mm, Visakhapatnam 22 mm, Atiramapattinam 23 mm, Machilipatnam 20 mm, Trichy 10 mm, Nellore 8 mm, and Chennai 2.7 mm.

Rain in Andhra Pradesh

The low-pressure area in Bay has now weakened into a cyclonic circulation and is seen over west-central Bay of Bengal and North Coastal Andhra Pradesh. According to weathermen, the system will continue to give light to moderate rains over Coastal Andhra Pradesh as well the interior region of Rayalaseema for the next 2-3 days.

The rain belt will also cover parts adjoining state of Telangana during this time period.

Rain in Tamil Nadu

Besides the prevailing system, a fresh cyclonic circulation as an upper air system is seen over South Tamil Nadu and adjoining Comorin area.

Now, this system will be responsible for bringing scattered light to moderate rain and thundershowers over the coastal areas of the state including Chennai as well as the interiors of North Tamil Nadu.

Skymet Weather predicts these rains will continue for the next 48 hours, thereafter, intensity of rains will reduce significantly, gradually taking back seat.
