Maharashtra has been witnessing different shades of weather these days. While light to moderate rains were observed over Vidarbha and Coastal Maharashtra during the last 24 hours, few parts of Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada settled with light rain in pockets.

In a span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Tuesday, Vengurla recorded 32 mm of rain, Alibag 22 mm, Mahabaleshwar 22 mm, Gondia 21 mm, Ratnagiri 17 mm, Nagpur 8 mm, Kolhapur 7 mm, Beed 6 mm, and Sangli 5 mm.
As on August 28, the state of Maharashtra is witnessing above normal rains to the tune of 6%. Division wise, Konkan & Goa and Madhya Maharashtra recorded rain surplus of 8%, each. Concurrently, Vidarbha saw surplus rain by 3% and Marathwada too observed normal rains.
At the moment, a cyclonic circulation is persisting over North Chhattisgarh and adjoining East Madhya Pradesh. Also, the Monsoon trough that was tilting southwards, is most likely to weaken gradually.
On that account, the rain activity will now decrease over Vidarbha and Coastal Maharashtra. Still, light to moderate rainfall in places like Ratnagiri, Vengurla and Harnai cannot be ruled out. Simultaneously, North Konkan including Mumbai and North Vidarbha would see light showers.
There is a possibility of rain and thundershowers at many places over South Madhya Maharashtra including Kolhapur, Sangli and Aurangabad. Similar weather events would take place in pockets of Marathwada.
As reported by weathermen, maximum temperatures are expected to linger close to normal or marginally below the normal range. Hence, the weather conditions over entire Maharashtra would remain comfortable.
