During the last 24 hours, the rain intensity has reduced once again significantly over the region. Day before yesterday, Hyderabad recorded moderate intensity showers, while yesterday, it has recorded light showers only. Till date, the city has witnessed 2.8 mm of rainfall as compared to its monthly mean of 132.9 mm.

Light to moderate showers were observed over other parts of Telangana including Khammam that recorded 15 mm of rain, followed by Ramagundam 12 mm and Bhadrachalama 3 mm.

The reason for these rains can be credited to the north-south trough which is extending from Interior Odisha to South Tamil Nadu across Telangana and Rayalaseema.

Now a cyclonic circulation is seen over Southwest Bay of Bengal off North Tamil Nadu Coast. This circulation will move in northwest direction towards Rayalaseema, thus, we expect rains to intensify over Telangana. In fact, some parts of the state may observe few good spells.

The city of Nizams, Hyderabad is also likely to observe light to moderate rains for another 48 hours. As on September 6, Hyderabad is rain surplus by 9% however the state of Telangana is rain deficit by 10%.
