Odisha and Andhra Pradesh have been witnessing on and off Monsoon rains for quite sometime now. However, weather has now changed and rains are all set to increase. In the last 24 hours from 8.30 am on Wednesday, Jharsuguda witnessed heavy rain to the tune of 36.2 mm, Gopalpur 21.8 mm, Paradip 25 mm, Chandbali 11.9 mm and Puri 9.4 mm of rain.
Meanwhile, Bhubaneshwar and Balasore also recorded light Monsoon rains. In the same span of time, Kakinada witnessed 13.6 mm of rain, Ongole 12.2 mm and Nellore 6.2 mm of rain. Kurnool, Kalingapatnam, and Vishakhapatnam too recorded light Monsoon rains
At present, a cyclonic circulation is seen over West Central Bay of Bengal off North Coastal Andhra Pradesh and adjoining South Odisha coast.

This system is moving eastwards gradually, hence warm and moist winds will be blowing over Odisha and Andhra Pradesh. Light to moderate rainy spells are likely to continue to affect these states during the next two to three days.
Places such as Koraput, Rayagarh, Kalingapatnam, Vishakhapatnam, Ganjam, Cuttack, Bhadrak and Bhubaneshwar will be the most affected places. The sky will be cloudy and the weather will be warm during the day but the morning and night will be pleasant.

As on September 27, Odisha is rain deficient by 9 percent rains meanwhile, Coastal Andhra Pradesh is rain surplus by 14 percent.
