More Monsoon rains likely in Kurnool, Raichur, Anantapur of Andhra Pradesh

In the course of the last 24 hours, moderate Monsoon rains were observed over the state of Andhra Pradesh with few parts also recording heavy intensity spells.

The reason for these rain and thundershowers can be attributed to a trough that is extending from Rayalaseema to Tamil Nadu. Another feeble trough is running along the East Coast from Andhra Pradesh to Tamil Nadu. In addition to this, a cyclonic circulation is marked over Comorin region.

In a span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Sunday, Nellore recorded 75 mm of heavy rains, followed by Rentachintala 19 mm and Anantapur 9 mm of light intensity showers.

With the combined effect of these weather systems, weathermen at Skymet Weather, moderate rains with a few heavy spells cannot be ruled out, particularly over Rayalaseema during the next 24 to 48 hours. Whereas, scattered showers are likely over Coastal Andhra Pradesh.

Therefore, the weather is likely to remain comfortable during morning as well as night; however, day will be humid and warm. Temperatures are anticipated to settle in mid 30s.

As on September 3, the state of Andhra Pradesh is rain surplus by 21%. As far as, the sub division rain distributions is concerned, Coastal Andhra Pradesh is rain surplus by 22% while Rayalaseema by 19%.
