Moderate to heavy showers have been lashing many parts of Northwest India since last two to three days, specifically the western parts of Uttar Pradesh, north and eastern pockets of Punjab, Haryana and Delhi.
At the same time, scattered rains were taking place over the eastern districts of Rajasthan, whilst western portion of Rajasthan, Haryana and Punjab remained almost dry.
Present day, the axis of Monsoon trough is extending via Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. In view of this, we presume good rain and thundershowers to continue over West Uttar Pradesh, parts of Haryana and East Punjab for another two to three days.
Moreover, the national capital-Delhi would too see few good spells of rain for the next 48 hours.
Subsequently, the intensity of showers may reduce over Northwest India and we anticipate significant decrease in rainfall over the entire region. This will be the period when Monsoon is likely to initiate withdrawing from Northwest India.
“Winds will change their course from east to west. An anticyclone would develop over Rajasthan and Central Pakistan,” said Mahesh Palawat, Vice President- Meteorology, Skymat Weather.
In last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Monday, Bharatpur recorded intense showers of 91 mm, followed by Delhi 42 mm, Sawai Madhopur 37 mm, Patiala 35 mm, Bundi 29 mm, Gurugram 18 mm, Kota 16 mm. Chandigarh 12 mm, Mount Abu 9 mm, Sikar 9 mm, Rohtak 8 mm, Ayanagar 7 mm, Ridge 6 mm, Churu 7 mm and Amritsar 4 mm.
As on September 3, Northwest India have seen normal rains but with a mere deficiency of 4%.
