Since last many days, Coastal Andhra Pradesh has been receiving good rains. As a result, Coastal Andhra Pradesh is witnessing normal rains with mere deficiency of 1% as on August 19. On the other hand, Monsoon 2019 has been subdued over Rayalseema, with rains confined to being scanty. That is why, the region is rainfall deficient by 26%.
However, during last 24 hours, many districts of Rayalseema such as Anantapur, Kurnool, Nandiyal received moderate to heavy rains. Nandyal recorded 70 mm of rains in span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Monday, followed by Anantpur saw 45 mm, and Kurnool 34 mm.
South coastal parts of Andhra Pradesh also received moderate to heavy rains at places such as Tirupathi recorded 41 mm, Ongole 29 mm, Kavali 18 mm, and Nellore 10 mm. These ongoing Monsoon rains were due to the formation of a wind shear zone which is around 14% latitude at mid-level.
As per weathermen, we expect moderate rains with one or two heavy spells to continue over Rayalseema and adjoining South Coastal Andhra Pradesh for another 24 hours. Thereafter, with wind shear zone becoming insignificant, the intensity of rains would subside over entire Andhra Pradesh.
In wake of these rains, there would be drop in the day temperatures but weather would continue to be warm and humid as mercury would settle in mid 30s.
