As predicted by Skymet Weather, after giving some heavy to extremely heavy rains, Monsoon showers over the state of Maharashtra reduced significantly. On the past day, Konkan, Madhya Maharashtra, and Vidarbha received moderate showers at many places.

On the other hand, Marathwada received good rains at one or two places. It is due to these Monsoonal rains that almost all the subdivisions of the state are at present enjoying the rain surplus status.

As on June 26, Konkan region is enjoying the most surplus status with rainfall at a surplus of 56%, Marathwada is on the second step with 45% surplus rains, Madhya Maharashtra is 19% rainfall surplus and Vidarbha the least 6% rainfall surplus.

In the last 24 hours, from 08:30 am on Tuesday, Akola recorded 38 mm of rains, Mahabaleshwar 34 mm, Ratnagiri 29 mm, Parbhani 22 mm, Nanded 22 mm, Washim 21 mm, Mumbai 19 mm, Jalgaon 16 mm, Wardha 14 mm, and Alibag recorded 13 mm of rains.

The reason for these rains, as per Skymet Weather can be associated with the offshore trough that is extending from South Gujarat to Coastal Kerala.

Thereafter, the intensity of rains would reduce over almost the entire state, however, light to moderate rains are likely to continue over North Konkan division. Thus, cities like Mumbai, Dahanu, and Thane are likely to witness light rains for the next 2 days.

Thereafter, rain over coastal Maharashtra, including Mumbai are likely to revive around July 2. Pune, Nashik may receive light rains however, Nagpur, Akola may see light to moderate rains for another 24 hours, thereafter the rains would reduce.
