More Monsoon rain in Lucknow, Kanpur, Meerut, Agra; Bihar to see light rain

As predicted by Skymet Weather, Monsoon rains have finally commenced over the state of Uttar Pradesh. In the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Wednesday, active Monsoon conditions gave heavy rain in Lucknow to the tune of 87.6 mm, followed by Sultanpur at 79.6 mm, Agra 46.4 mm, Banda 39.4 mm, Allahabad 39 mm, Meerut 34.3 mm, Kanpur 27 mm, Muzaffarnagar 21 mm, Bahraich 14.2 mm, Aligarh 9.2 mm and Jhansi 3 mm of rain.

In view of the hefty showers, both the maximum and minimum temperatures have witnessed a fall over many districts of Uttar Pradesh.

The intensity of rain is expected to increase over many parts of Uttar Pradesh. Districts of Central and West Uttar Pradesh will record moderate to heavy Monsoon rains. Meanwhile, rains in East Uttar Pradesh will be mainly light to moderate.

Moreover, the axis of Monsoon trough is also likely to shift and now pass through Uttar Pradesh. Thus, the rain intensity is also expected to increase significantly over Uttar Pradesh during the next three to four days.

Meanwhile, Monsoon rains in Bihar remained very light. Places such as Supaul, Purnea, Bhagalpur, and Muzaffarpur recorded light rainfall activity on Wednesday.

In fact in the coming days also, Bihar will continue with subdued rainfall activities. Though the dry spell will certainly break in Bihar but the intensity will be mainly light.

As on July 11, Bihar is rain deficient by 32 percent, East Uttar Pradesh by 55 mm and West Uttar Pradesh by 51 percent rain. High rain deficiency is due to the scanty rains during the month of June and the first week of July.

Now, places like Agra, Bahraich, Lucknow, Kanpur, Bareilly, Aligarh and Meerut will continue to receive good rains. Thus, the rain deficiency will decrease significantly over West Uttar Pradesh. In fact, improvement will be observed in the rain deficiency of East Uttar Pradesh. Meanwhile, rains deficiency of Bihar will not witness major changes.
