Kolkata has been receiving moderate intensity of rains since last few days. Similarly, several other districts of West Bengal have been witnessing good rains and thundershower. Therefore, with this, pleasant weather conditions have been prevailing over the entire state as well as over Kolkata.
In a span of last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday, the City of Joy, Kolkata recorded a good rainfall of 22.1 mm. Whereas, other areas of West Bengal such as Asansol, Digha, Malda and Coochbehar recorded light to moderate rains.
These weather conditions can be attributed to a cyclonic circulation which is seen persisting over Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining areas. Further, this weather system is likely to shift towards the west. Also, an upper air trough is seen extending from Bihar up to North Coastal Tamil Nadu across Gangetic West Bengal.
Due to this weather system, light to moderate rains and thundershower activities are likely to continue over Kolkata during the next 24 to 48 hours.
