About two days ago, heavy rains had lashed the state of Kerala. Rainfall reduced thereafter, and only moderate spells of rains were seen over God’s Own Country. However, in the last 24 hours as well, rainfall activity did continue over the state of Kerala with good showers lashing some parts of the South Indian State.

In the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Thursday, Karipur recorded a whopping 85 mm of rains, Thiruvananthapuram recorded 59 mm of rains, Kochi 37 mm, Alappuzha 3 mm, and Kottayam 4 mm.

A Cyclonic Circulation is currently seen over Kerala and its adjoining areas which resulted in the revival of rainfall activities over these areas.

Now also, moderate to heavy showers are expected to lash the state of Kerala during the next 24 to 48 hours. Rainfall intensity is expected to see some decrease thereafter but on and off rains will continue over the state for some more time.

At present, almost the entire country is rain deficient during the Post Monsoon season. However, Kerala continues to remain rain surplus because of the month of October seeing rainfall activity throughout the state.

Northeast Monsoon is also expected to mark its arrival over southern parts of the country wherein rains will continue to increase over Kerala and the surplus figures will remain the same.
