Coastal Maharashtra and many parts of Vidarbha region have received heavy to very heavy rains. Some regions, in fact, recorded three digit figures in the past 24 hours as well. These downpours have wreaked chaos among the residents.

In span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Tuesday, Brahmapuri recorded a mammoth of 208 mm of rainfall, followed by Harnai at 200 mm, Vengurla 118 mm, Alibag and Ratnagairi 106 mm, Mumbai 79 mm, Dahanu 50 mm, Kolhapur 43 mm, Adilabad 41 mm and Satara 33 mm. Meanwhile, Thane received 15 mm, Jalgaon 12 mm and Akola 11 mm.
These downpours can be attributed the off-shore trough that is extending from South Gujarat to Kerala Coast. Besides this, a cyclonic circulation lies over Kutch and adjoining South Rajasthan. Also, the depression over Odisha and Andhra Pradesh Coast has been feeding moisture over the region.

As per Skymet Weather, moderate to heavy rains are anticipated to continue over many parts of Vidarbha and along the coastal parts during the next 24 hours.
Weathermen expect intensity of rains to reduce gradually, however scattered showers will continue over Vidarbha and Marathwada, while Madhya Maharashtra will record with light rains. Meanwhile, the West Coast will continue to record moderate to heavy showers for the next 48 hours. Madhya Maharashtra will record with light rains.
