Heavy to very heavy rains continue to lash most parts of Madhya Pradesh on the last day as well. True to the characteristics, rain intensity remained more over the eastern half of the state, meanwhile, parts of West Madhya Pradesh received scattered light rains.
These torrential rains further deteriorated the weather conditions by aggravating the flooding conditions over the state. In the last 24 hours, from 08:30 am on Thursday, Sagar recorded 76 mm of rains, Khajuraho 69 mm, Nowgong 63 mm, Rewa 45 mm, Umaria 31 mm, Jabalpur 27 mm, Hoshangabad 18 mm, Seoni 11 mm, Shajapur 4 mm and Bhopal recorded 2 mm of rains.
As per Skymet Weather, the Axis of Monsoon trough is running via North Madhya Pradesh. In addition to this, a cyclonic circulation is also persisting over South Uttar Pradesh and adjoining parts of Madhya Pradesh.
In the wake of this, we expect moderate rains with one or two heavy spells to continue over East Madhya Pradesh. On the other hand, parts of West Madhya Pradesh would continue receiving scattered showers.

According to Skymet Weather, the cyclonic circulation is also persisting over coastal Odisha. This would intensify further and is expected to move towards west. Therefore, we expect moderate to heavy rains to commence once again over many parts of southeast Madhya Pradesh around July 15. Gradually, heavy to extremely heavy rains may also occur over southern and central districts of the state until July 18.
Hence, we can say that heavy rains would continue over the state for the next 4 days, which may further escalate the flood like situation.
The most affected areas or districts would be Balaghat, Mandla, Umaria, Jabalpur, Seoni, Chhindwara, Hoshangabad, Dewas, Khandwa, and Bhopal. Meanwhile, the cities like Indore, Dhar, and Khargone would receive heavy rains around July 17.
